About Best Bar None

Best Bar None is an accredited award scheme supported by the Home Office and aimed at promoting responsible management and operation of alcohol-licensed premises. It was developed and piloted in Manchester in 2003 and found to be a huge success with premises now competing to participate. It has since been adopted by many towns and cities across the UK and is even now being taken up in parts of Europe, USA, New Zealand and Australia.

Best Bar None in Brent

Since January 2007, licensing officers from Brent Police and Brent Council have been visiting the borough's 200+ pubs, bars and clubs to encourage them to join the scheme. The scheme aims to ensure that all bars in Brent meet current licensing and trading laws. Once they have joined the scheme, officers assess the premises, and if they meet the Best Bar None criteria they will be put forward for accreditation.

Award categories include Best Bar, Best Pub and Best Club. Gold, silver and bronze prizes will be awarded in each category and there will also be an overall winner. Winners will be presented with a plaque at the Best Bar None Awards Ceremony to be held at the Wembley Plaza on 28th September. Accredited pubs will also be recognised and provided with a plaque to be displayed outside their premises.
